How we set our prices (and where your money goes)

One of Zenezen’s primary aims is to promote greater transparency across the music industry. With that in mind, we feel it’s important that we set a good example and speak openly about how we determine our prices, and how the hard-earned money of those who sign up for our services is spent.

A better future

We want our courses to be as accessible as possible, and we know first-hand that lots of musicians have limited disposable income. We’ve experienced that personally, and it’s something for which we have deep and genuine empathy.

At the same time, we consider it our responsibility to ensure that the freelancers who work with Zenezen, such as our instructors, feel valued and are respectably remunerated. We believe that musicians — who typically spend decades honing their craft — are more often than not underpaid for their expertise, and we want that to change. So, in setting our prices, we have attempted to balance the realities of our profession today against our aspirations to make things better for the future. Your contributions are actively supporting our mission to champion fair and proper pay across our industry, and we hope that will one day be of benefit to all.

Different formats

We are immensely proud of the team of instructors that we are building. Each of them is a highly renowned figure in their respective field, and we are confident that their classes will have a profoundly positive impact, both pastorally and professionally, on those who enrol. Classes have been designed individually by the instructors themselves, and you will find some differences in formats, such as session lengths and number of participants. Those differences have played a role in determining our prices.

A circular approach

Zenezen is a community platform, and each and every one of our users has the opportunity to help shape its evolution. In other words, we will create the content that you want, such that it brings you the greatest value. It’s important to stress, therefore, that once our instructors have been paid and our running costs covered, over 90% of our income raised from our classes will go straight back into content creation, enabling us to provide the support that you deserve.
